Vodafone’s pay as you go iPhone 4 seems to be a hit, if initial sales are any indication. They are sold out already, and if you want one you’ll have to get on the waiting list. Apple’s decision to offer the iPhone 4 unlocked on a PAYG basis is an innovation in the industry, and informed watchers expect this to be the start of a trend.
Vodafone is offering the Apple 16GB iPhone 4 for £480 and the 32GB for £570. To add extra incentive, anyone who buys the device before November this year gets 12 months of free mobile internet and BT Openzone WiFi.
Of course critics say that the free 250MB per month of internet allowance is insufficient, but that’s if you’re a heavy surfer. The pay as you go option should be great for users who want all the stylish perks on an occasional basis. Calls to mobile or landline networks are 20p per minute, text messages 10p.
