Admission is ordinarily £7, but Newsquest South London is offering free tickets if you go to www.ukaware.com, follow the links and enter the code NQ2011. This promises to be a terrific show for everyone including the kids, and it’s an opportunity to learn about a lot of things that will save money as well as the environment, and that’s a win/win.

One thing you can do right away is rummage in your closet, pull out the stuff you haven’t worn for years or never wore at all, bring it to the “swishing” area and trade it in for something marvellous that somebody else never wore. Then you can test drive one of the latest eco-vehicles on the indoor track, or lunch on something delicious and nutritious at the Food Zone, hosted this year by FoodLoversBritain.com.

All day long there will be a fascinating variety of interactive workshops for kids and adults, free seminars conducted by world-class speakers and displays of the newest and best products and services available. Get some great ideas for starting your own eco-friendly business, learn how to build a bee hotel, check out the Dare 2 fashion show; the possibilities are boundless. And remember your Newsquest tickets are free, so get there, learn, and enjoy.

This scheme covers 28 meetings at famous courses such as Newbury, Epsom Downs and Ascot, and has been organised by Racing for Change. The tickets entitle free entry to at least one of the enclosures at 17 courses, and there are a further 5,500 tickets available for the other 11 courses.

A similar scheme which ran for a week in April 2010 brought an extra 40,000 visitors to watch the sport. The scheme is being run with the intention of bringing in new customers and giving them the taste of the excitement at a race meeting, and is also a way of rewarding long-time fans of the sport who turn up in all weathers.

Some of the highlighted meetings are the opening afternoon on 13/04/11 of the Craven Meeting at Newmarket, and the Easter Sunday meeting on 24/4/11 at Sandown Park. The Royal Wedding meeting at Perth has limited free tickets for the opening day on 27/04/11, and the meeting at Doncaster on the Royal Wedding day, 29/04/11 is the last one of the initiative.
