Orange is hoping to tempt iPhone users to purchase its network service plans by offering any customers that sign into a two year contract the iPhone4 for free.
Customers that choose to sign up for the £50 monthly tariff will be able to evade the £75 charge for the Apple mobile handset.
As part of the contract deal, Orange mobile users will also receive unlimited texts, 1200 minutes, and 500MB of mobile data usage every month. If users stay within their data and call limits, the total cost of the mobile usage for two years is £1200 including the monthly tariff.
In order to accommodate those with less usage needs, Orange has also changed its lower tariffs so that minutes can be swapped out for access to MMS messages, higher data allowances, or Orange Maps.
However, use of Orange’s ‘unlimited’ Wi-Fi is due to be capped at 750MB per month for those have become accustomed to using the BT Openzone facilities.
The new offer may tempt some of Orange’s business and high-end users, although casual mobile users may want to check out Three UK’s new plan which offers a £35 monthly tariff with an upfront £189 charge for the iPhone 4.
