Spotify free

spotify 300x216 Spotify freeSpotify has released a new pricing plan that allows individuals to try out the new product without an official invite, but free users of the program will face caps on their listening times.

In the past, all new users required an invite from a Spotify user in order to sign up to enjoy the service, but now with the advent of Spotify Open new users can access an account but if they do not want to pay they can only listen to twenty hours per month.  Spotify compares this listening time to about 300 tracks or 25 albums.

Free users with listening caps will still have to listen to advertisements as well, but if they decide to pay after passing the cap there are two new payment options available.  The first is a monthly subscription to Spotify Premium for £9.99 that includes unlimited access to the service without ads and an offline mode.

The second option, released today as Spotify Unlimited will cost users £4.99 per month and offer users access to the listening service without advertisements.  However, this option does not include offline mode or access from a mobile phone.

Those who are already free Spotify users will not need to worry about time caps and the invitation service will still continue without interruption with those who register using an invite code allowed to listen without a cap as well.

Andres Sehr, the global community manager for Spotify, stated that they are happy to offer more choices for users to get access to the service and added that existing users will not be affected by any of the changes.
