The UK Film Council and British Film Institute have created a joint venture with Blinkbox the technology company in order to offer popular Hollywood videos online via free streaming.
The promotion, which is named ‘Full Stream Ahead,” is aimed at reducing piracy online as 28% of pirates state that they are in favour of instant access. By allowing immediate access to movie content the partners hope to reduce piracy.
The promotion began on Monday of this week and will continue for a full week at which point each visitor that visits Fullstreamahead.co.uk- Blinkbox’s website- will be given a £20 credit in order to view films.
The mission on the website states that the promotion is designed to show people that there are better legal options for file sharing than piracy.
At the moment Blinkbox is supported by Universal, Sony Pictures, 20th Century Fox, Warner Bros, and a handful of small movie studios. Over the week blockbuster films such as Sherlock Holmes, Avatar, and Up in the Air will be available for free streaming by Blinkbox users. The films can be viewed on both television and PC.
Co-founder of Blinkbox and CEO, Michael Cormish, stated that they are running the streaming promotion at a time when legal streaming services are at the forefront of people’s minds unlike the music industry which waited until piracy was in full swing and too hard to prevent. Since movie digital retail is just starting, Blinkbox aims to cut off piracy at its start.

I would in general have a thing about stories like this. That starts out with something not possible and then tries to clarify it slowly. Pealing away layer by layer and it just keeps you guessing. Unfortunately in a movie thats about crazy people you can’t believe everything. All though the film you will be guessing what’s real and whats not. However even then you can still almost presume the ending.
