Free games and music on Bing

bing 300x214 Free games and music on BingThe ongoing search engine wars will certainly benefit the average consumer, as the efforts of Google, Yahoo and Microsoft’s Bing continue to bring more innovations and upgrades to the contest.  The most recent move came from Microsoft, as it unveiled new features for its Bing search engine.

The thrust is in the entertainment category, which draws a high percentage of users.  Bing senior vice president Yusef Mehdi said in a blog post that 76% of customers use a search engine to find the specific entertainment they’re looking for, and most of them have trouble navigating around in all the information sites out there.

The aim is for Microsoft to make it possible for users to stay right in their website without resorting to other searches.

With game searches, users can get detailed information, reviews and walk-throughs for more than 35,000 games, and play about 100 games within Bing.  For music, searches will provide links to Bing-hosted pages for song lyrics and song streaming for over 5 million songs in the Zune catalogue.

Users can stay on site and listen to a full-length song once and 30-second previews after that.  If they want to buy, links are provided to Amazon, iTunes and Zune.
