A Place in the Sun, the TV home programme that airs on Channel 4, is the biggest property show in Europe for anyone interested in buying a home in a foreign country. Twice a year the presenters organize a special show called A Place in the Sun Live, where the presenters, along with various real estate experts and estate agents from all over the world showcase different properties for sale.
The latest Live show took place in Hall 2 of the NEC in Birmingham last weekend. From 30th September thru 2nd October the Channel 4 presenters Amanda Lamb, Jasmine Harmon and Jonnie Irwin gave interviews and met visitors to sign autographs and answer questions about the show. Ticket holders could also try out for a spot on the TV show at screen tests conducted during all three days of the exhibition.
The best part, of course, was the wealth and diversity of properties to view and analyze regarding their potential as a permanent residence or vacation home. The various offerings made it clear that the potential is enormous, and owning property abroad is not just for very wealthy folks, but quite attainable for almost anyone.
At the Fractional Pavilion, interested guests learned about the possibilities of owning a share in homes or investments abroad, in a scheme that allows part-ownership in the same property by several buyers and/or investors so that the cost is not too great for any one partner. Properties in a wide range of countries, climates and cultures were on display, from hillside villas in Portugal and Spain to seaside cottages in Greece.
No matter what corner of the world interests you, from Albania to Turkey to Florida to the lands ‘down under’, there is ‘a place in the sun’ to fulfil your dream. I’ve never heard of the show but it sounds like the ones that I love here in the States. I’d be interested in catching a few episodes as I’m sure I would enjoy the programme.
