Free tickets available for the Shrewsbury Flower Show

Tickets are being given away to the longest-running flower show in the world, which is the Shrewsbury Flower Show. This year it is celebrating its 125th year anniversary and the event is going to take place in mid-August.

There are going to be special guests at the event, including the famous celebrity chef James Martin. There are also going to be many beautiful flowers at the event as well as a great selection of artisan food.

Visitors at the show are going to be able to see cookery demonstrations from the celebrity chef and they are also going to be able to enjoy gardening presentations from the famous television gardener Chris Beardshaw.

As well as the celebrity attractions, there’s going to be live entertainment suitable for the entire family and at the end of the day there is going to be a spectacular fireworks show.

Waverly, the last remaining sea-going paddle steamer in the world and the classic cruise ship Balmoral are still plying the coastal waters of the British Isles. The answer to the question above is 1949. Balmoral was built at Southampton and was part of the Southampton Red Funnel Fleet for two decades, then moved to the Bristol Channel to become the last ship in the majestic White Funnel Fleet operated by P&A Campbell. In 1980 the fleet closed down and Balmoral spent some time as a floating restaurant at Dundee, but she was brought back into service in 1986 through the efforts of the Friends of Waverly and National Steam Ship Preservation.

Classic 70′s rock comes to Worksop’s Clumber Park this summer

Worksop this summer is going to see a great deal of classic rock from the 1970s come to Clumber Park in the city. This is going to be a celebration of what is seen as the golden age of rock. The event is going to be called Rocking The Park and it is set to begin on 17 August. The event is going to see many bands come to play, many of them tributes to 1970s rock bands including Pink Floyd.

The Gainsborough Standard, a local newspaper, is giving away two tickets to the event in a competition being run in their paper. Those who attend the event are also going to be given a DVD with a recording of a live performance by the Pink Floyd tribute band, Brit Floyd.

The company organising the event is, UK Events, and they are hoping that the festival is going to be so popular that it is going to start occurring every year. Another band which is going to be performing at the event is Hawkwind, who’ve been performing for the last four decades. Their musical genre is called space rock, which they are widely credited with inventing and they released their largest hit, Silver Machine, which is an example of the genre.

Another band that is going to be appearing at the festival is the Dutch rock band, Focus. They are particularly famous for their involvement of instrumental music in their rock music and a most famous for their songs, Sylvia and Hocus Pocus.

A third band appearing are Curved Air. They are a progressive rock band which was formed in the 1970s by musicians from many backgrounds, including electronic music, folk, and classical. This has led to them developing a very interesting musical style clearly taking influence from all three genres.

Many people regard this band as one of the most accomplished to have come out of the progressive rock explosion that took place in the 1960s. They have created eight studio albums to date and are best known for their hit, Back Street Luv.

Microsoft dare you to challenge the Windows phone

Microsoft have recently started up a new competition around the UK which is going to offer people £20 if they are able to beat a Windows phone at doing certain tasks. This competition is being called the Dare to Live tour and everyone is invited to take part in it.

Microsoft are claiming that there operating system running on the Nokia phones is so fast that they are willing to bet that people are unable to beat them in a face-to-face competition. For example, if you are able to use your phone to take a photo faster than them, then tag them on Facebook, you’ll be able to win £20. If you fail at the challenge then you’ll have to take part in something called a reverse bungee jump.

Of course, this is a completely safe experience and many people will find it quite exhilarating. It’s a win-win situation really, and it is a good way for Microsoft to do some marketing for their new phone operating system.

Events of this kind are going to be taking place all over the country and it is possible to find them by downloading the Facebook application. There is also a website where you can visit to find out about where this competition is taking place. The event is going to be run at O2 stores across the country and there are many promotions being run by the stores where you can trade in your old phone for cashback up to £100.

Refrigeration company offers the chance to win an iPad on their website

Gram is a company that provides refrigeration that is particularly energy-efficient and they are asking caterers to go onto their website and fill in a questionnaire. This is going to help them with their business and as a reward people are going to have the chance to win a new iPad.

The company are trying to get as many people involved in the survey as possible and have been working with the Local Authority Caterers Association. The report is called the Green Paper Report and it is done every year. The company are hoping that this year it will get more responses than ever before.

It is not just caterers who the company are looking for for responses from and they are also saying that people responsible for running hotels, restaurants, and educational establishments are also welcome to enter.

Buckinghamshire residents get the chance to win a trip to a Palace garden party

A competition has recently been started for residents of Buckinghamshire and they are going to be able to enter a competition that is going to let them attend a garden party with the Queen. The event is going to be taking place on 25 June and just this week the competition has closed for entries.

The garden party, which is going to be part of the celebrations of the Queen’s diamond jubilee, has been organised by the Lord Lieutenants of Buckinghamshire. It is estimated there are going to be 4000 people in attendance including the Queen and her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh.

Around 1000 of the tickets are going to be given away to the public in a draw that is going to take place on 9 May. It is possible to download an application form to apply for a ticket online. Those who have one will be informed by the end of May.

A fun weekend awaits all at Welbeck Abbey in June

A weekend of literature, film and music is coming to Welbeck Abbey in June and a competition has recently been announced where some lucky people will be able to win tickets to the event. This is the first time that the festival, No Direction, has been held and it is going to run from the 8th to the 10th of June. The organisers of the event are giving away two pairs of tickets.

The headline singer of the event is Richard Hawley from Sheffield and he’s also going to be joined by the notable musician, Andrew Bird, as well as the up-and-coming band, The Low Anthem.

There are going to be a wide range of other artists supporting these performers, some of them established, and some of them up and comers. It is not just music that is going to be seen at the event and there are going to be historical films shown, as well as modern Hollywood productions.

Food and drink are also going to play an important part of the festival and there is going to be a bar setup overlooking the lake where local ales can be enjoyed. Also at this attraction there is going to be a workshop about constructing musical instruments. There are going to be cooking lessons put on by Artisan Food which is going to give people the opportunity to learn how to make a wide range of foods including Indian flatbread.

The tickets are priced at £105 for the weekend and this includes camping charges. For younger people, aged between 13 and 17, the tickets are £55. Chiswick House looks forward to opera in the summer evenings

Chiswick House is going to be holding two evenings of opera in the summer and a competition has recently been announced by the company that they are going to be giving away two tickets to the event and a bottle of champagne.

The event is going to start on 20 June and one of the evenings is going to be a Midsummer Gala. There is going to be a production of Madame Butterfly by Puccini and the two performances that are going to be put on are going to be done by the leading outdoor opera company in the UK, Opera Brava.

Tickets for the event are going on sale in mid April and they are going to cost £26 for the Midsummer Gala and if you want to attend Madame Butterfly the tickets are going to be two pounds more. Tickets can be bought on the Internet by visiting the website of Chiswick House. All entries to the competition have to be put in by the end of April and details about how to enter can also be found on the website.

The two performances are going to be held on the lawns at the House in West London and they are both going to commence at 7:30 PM. Those who have tickets to the event are being encouraged to arrive early so they can enjoy the gardens and a drink or two before the singing gets underway.

The event is chaired by Jan Grandison and she said, “These events that we host are a fantastic opportunity for friends to get together and enjoy an evening at the Opera. We think that hosting these events at Chiswick House is particularly great because it is such a stunning 18th century building. This is a non-seated event so people should bring blankets.

Google’s cloud storage set to launch according to reports

Google’s eagerly awaited cloud storage is set to finally launch next week, say experts. The Next Web, a technology website, claims to have laid eyes upon a press release drafted about the service named Google Drive. It is rumoured that 5GB of storage will be made available to users which is substantially more than 2GB which is what’s currently offered by Dropbox.

It has also been rumoured that users will be allowed to pay extra if they want more storage, though no further details about this have been seen. Rumours of Google’s cloud storage solution first surfaced back in 2006, as of yet Google hasn’t delivered. Rivals including Apple, Microsoft and even Amazon are already well-established companies offering online storage.

Similar to other cloud storage services, Google Drive is expected to enable users to keep files, music and images in the cloud storage centre and access them on other desktops, smartphones, laptops and tablets.

Any changes to documents and images stored are likely to change on all platforms so users will no longer have to carry files using USB drives. Both Windows and Mac OS are set to be compatible with Google’s new storage service, thought to launch in less than a week.
