Win a Kodak printer

You can win a free Kodak Hero 9.1 printer, plus a set of introductory inks, and enjoy the smartest home and small office printer on the market today.  The contest is open only to residents of the UK, and you can enter simply by filling in the missing word in this sentence:  “Kodak printers have the lowest replacement costs of any printer on the market.”  Go to the Guardian link above to access the complete form, fill it out and submit.

The Hero 9.1 is the latest and most versatile in the Kodak series that started with the Hero 5.1, an entry-level model with wireless printing and scanning, automatic Duplex and a 2.4-inch display that sold for £99. Next came the 6.1, more office-oriented with fax capability and other job-facilitating features; then the 7.1 with a 3.5-inch colour touchscreen.  Now here is the Hero 9.1 with all the best features of its fore-runners plus a 4.3-inch colour touchscreen and a bunch of other fun additions.

This device is designed for easy set-up so you can be up and running in no time.  It can be connected directly to your computer via USB, or through an Ethernet link or Wi-Fi connection.  The Hero 9.1 is Google Cloud Print-ready (note:  you must be connected to the internet and have a Google Cloud Print account.)

Once you’ve connected to your network and registered online, the printer is given its own unique email address, and then you can print text, images, PDFs, Microsoft Office files etc. by emailing them to that address from any device that has an internet connection, even if it’s on a different network than the printer.

The Hero 9.1 also has automatic Duplex so you can print on both sides of the paper without reloading.  When printing photos, this device senses that you’re using photo paper and adjusts the ink accordingly.   The printer has also received very high ratings for the crisp, clear colour and sharp detail of its photos.

There is even an app with the facility for taking and printing 3-D images (cardboard glasses are bundled with the printer) but that only works with Windows PCs.

Kodak says that the price (£200) will be slightly higher than its competitors, but the cost-effectiveness of operation will more than offset the initial outlay.  The pigmented inks are long-lasting and cost a mere 1.25p for a black only page and 2.15p for colour.
