HSBC is a bank known for its welcoming attitude to students. It offers them a plethora of free services, such as internet banking and an international debit card. It also offer higher rates of interest on the savings account and even free gifts.

The account is called Yes 4 Student and HSBC has been sending representatives to explain the benefits of opening an account with the bank to students at MCAST. Students will be able to sign up for an account with the bank at events that come to their education establishments as well as by going into a branch. Free cinema tickets are being given to those that apply online at http://www.hsbc.com.mt/1/2/yes4.

Until the end of October the bank are offering gifts from Scan Computers. These gifts include an HP printer, a pair of headphones or a 250gb hard disk drive. If students pay a little extra they can upgrade this gift to a 640gb version or claim a digital camera. For those willing to pay more than that and a 23” high definition television can be claimed.

Deals are also being offered through Vodafone. Here students are able to get a free mobile internet key which includes 2 months of free data access. Alternatively, they can make free calls to other Vodafone numbers for 3 months and free internet access for the same time. If students want to purchase a mobile device, HSBC are offering fifty Euro discounts on some smartphones.

1 million M&S points from M&S Premium Club

A Premium Club prize draw has been launched by M&S Money, and one lucky winner will get 1m points, worth £10,000, to spend in M&S. All customers who join the exclusive premium club before the 30^th of June will automatically be entered into the prize draw.

Other benefits available to members of the M&S Premium Club include earning triple points on your M&S credit card for all your M&S purchases, whether instore or online. There also special treats and bonuses throughout the year including birthday gifts, vouchers for M&S cafés and travel insurance.

These and many other benefits are available for only £15 a month for a minimum period of 12 months and are only for holders of an M&S credit card. This has been ranked as a ‘best buy’ credit card with no annual fee, and for new customers there is the offer of shopping interest free for 15 months.
Amanda Newman, M&S Premium Club manager, commented: “Premium Club gives members the opportunity to experience more of M&S, with exclusive access to a collection of benefits and rewards.”

Existing M&S Credit Card holders can apply to join Premium Club at M&S stores, by phone or online. New customers can apply for the credit card and M&S Premium Club at the same time, using just one application form.

The winner of the prize draw will be drawn on 29th July 2011, and the winner will be informed by the 19th August 2011.

Consumers that want to compare savings on different products so that they get the best deal may want to take a look at a financial offer from Santander savings.

The lending agent announced this week that their Zero account package will be an option for any customers that have at least £10,000 in their savings accounts.

The product was in the past only available to those who have a Santander investment package of mortgage and offers smart consumers such as unarranged or arranged overdraft facilities with no fees and a credit interest rate that is set at 5% for any balances that are under £2,500.

Banking director for Santander, Nici Audhlam, stated that the account is unique in the fact that the special account does not have overdraft charges of ay charges for international ATM use.

Director General of the Building Societies Association, Adrian Coles, stated that savings products are not as popular with consumers as they used to be.

Get 0% on balance transfers until 2011 with Barclaycard Platinum

Barclaycard Platinum has announced it is continuing to offer the lowest balance transfer fee on the market to new customers, with 0% on balance transfers until February 2011 and 3 months interest free purchases.

Barclaycard will charge new Platinum card customers a 2.9% handling charge to make the move and the balance transfer rate is available on transfers up to 90% of the customer’s credit limit. Purchases over the first three months will also be interest free, after this introductory period the typical interest will be just 15.9%.

Barclaycard Platinum will also enable customers to enjoy the freedom and flexibility of contactless technology, making payments of £10 and under possible with just a simple swipe. This is backed up by Barclaycard’s advanced security and fraud prevention measures.

In addition to the lowest balance transfer fee, the Barclaycard Goldfish credit card is also offering £30 of reward points if customers spend £100 a month for the first three months from account opening. Customers will also receive 0% interest on purchases for the first three months and the lowest interest rate of any rewards credit card in the UK.

Customers can apply for this offer online through the Barclaycard website.
