Fans of the Resident Evil games can now take their favourite characters wherever they go with the announcement of a new release for the shoot-em-up classic on the Nintendo 3DS, Resident Evil: Revelations. Featuring the well-loved characters of Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield, Nintendo have said that the action in the game is supposed to be taking place some time between Resident Evil 4 and 5, with 3DS users able to play in campaign mode for the first time ever.

Other features include a new raid mode, ideal for solo play or while connected with friends, while developers have made the most of the 3DS’ capabilities, incorporating the Circle Pad Pro accessory for weapons control and the hand-held device’s touchscreen for solving problems throughout the course of the game. The touchscreen can also be used for quick weapons changes and for switching between the action and the much-needed map in this complicated set-up.

Gamers can play as either Valentine or Redfield, racking up the points as enemies are defeated and missions accomplished in order to upgrade skills and weapons for the next adventure. New characters have also been introduced for Resident Evil: Revelations, including the mysterious secret agent Raymond Vester.

The storyline features Jill Valentine and her new partner being sent to search for Redfield, whose life signs were last spotted on board a supposedly abandoned spaceship. Of course, all is not as it seems once Valentine and partner Parker Luciani arrive at their destination, with hideous creatures and the dreaded T-Abyss virus lurking round every corner and down every darkened corridor.

On sale across theUKfrom January 27, Resident Evil: Revelations is available in a limited edition bundle, which includes the new Circle Pad Pro accessory for much-improved game play. Of course, traditionalists can still buy just the game itself, if they prefer to stick to the old-style weapons they know and love.

Friday, 27th January 2012 is the day that Luton’s popular indoor market celebrates its 40th anniversary. There is a full day of festivities planned  that will include a huge scratchcard promotion giving one lucky shopper the chance to walk away with £40,000.

This iconic market first opened its doors for business in October 1972 as a part of the first phase of the, as it was known then, Arndale Centre development. The average wage was £58 a week, Edward Heath was the prime minister and Emmerdale Farm and Are You Being served? Both made their debuts on British TV.

A full day of celebrations will be taking place to mark this milestone anniversary, and everything kicks off at 11am. Some of the highlights include carnival performers, gospel singers, a live radio broadcast by Diverse FM and on the more ceremonial side, a cake will be cut by the former BBC celebrity chef and mayor of Luton Zena Skinner.

As a thank-you to its customers – throughout the entire month of February and March – the market’s traders will hand out the free scratchcards with every purchase made. The cards will contain prizes of Luton Market shopping vouchers worth up to £400 and one ‘Golden Ticket’ that will give the lucky winner a selection of prizes and the opportunity to win a massive £40,000 cash prize in a game of chance that will take place in the market at the end of the promotion on Saturday 31st March.

Dave Gibbs, manager with Town and Country Markets, the company now responsible for the day-to-day operation of the market, said: “On behalf of all of the traders and staff here in Luton, we’d like to offer our heartfelt thanks to everyone that’s supported us throughout the last forty years – long may it continue!”

The online gardening experts from ‘Love The Garden’ have announced their fourth, and final, garden vegetable competition of this year. To ensure that vegetables aren’t forgotten during December, they have launched their Christmas Carrot competition.

The competition is to be judged by an independent guest judge, Niamh Shields, star of Eat Like a Girl, and she is looking for the best culinary creativity using carrots. The     winner who comes up with the best recipe with carrots will get a restaurant voucher worth £200 for any UK restaurant they choose. There will also be three runners up prizes of Comfort & Spice, Niamh Shields latest cookbook.
Entering the competition is easy. All bloggers need to do is:

• Share a carrot recipe on their own blog;
• Mention the competition in the post;
• Tell LovetheGarden by emailing the URL of their entry to entries@lovethegarden.com before 21st December 2011.

The orange root vegetable is a prominent part of traditional Christmas meals, but recipes don’t have to be Christmas themed. Recipes for soups, salads, stir-fries and even cakes with this versatile vegetable are welcomed too.

Lovethegarden launched their first competition to find the best recipes for garden vegetables in February 2011, which encouraged bloggers to be creative with cabbage. The winner was Karolina with her Cabbage & Mushroom Pasties. In August, David Hall won the Potty for Potatoes competition with his Hot potato, bacon and nasturtium salad and the winner of the Taste for Tomatoes competition was Nic from Cherrapeno with her Summer Tomato Tart with Chilli Cheese Pastry. The carrot competition will be the last one for 2011, but in 2012, Lovethegarden will continue to encourage everyone in the UK to eat their five-a-day.
